The President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the Official Statistics Bill into Law, the Ministry of Justice reported. Official statistics consists of statistical data prepared and disseminated by the state statistical authorities and other producers of official statistics. The State Statistics Committee is the authorized state body in the field.
Individuals and legal entities (including their subdivisions, branches and representative offices) can be users of official statistics.
According to the law, a multi-year statistical program shall be developed for the national statistical system in general and defines the strategic development areas of official statistics. An annual statistical program shall be developed to complete the multi-year statistical program. Multi-year statistical programs shall be approved by the President, and annual statistical programs shall be approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.
Statistical data collected, processed and stored for the preparation of official statistics shall be deemed confidential if they allow direct or indirect identification of individuals or legal entities and disclose personal data pertaining to them. Confidential statistics provided for research purposes may not contain identifiers.
Official statistics shall be published to allow to analyze and assess the socio-economic development of the country and to conduct research, as well as to inform the public, to ensure the rights and legitimate interests of users of official statistics.
