Media reports about the alleged presence in Uzbekistan of some public figures and leaders of ethnic groups of Afghanistan do not correspond to reality, Dunyo news agency, which is owned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, said in a statement.

These include, in particular, the Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and Afghan field commanders Marshal Abdul-Rashid Dostum and former governor of Balkh province Atta Muhammad Nur.

Earlier, a number of foreign media outlets reported that Marshal Dostum crossed the Uzbek-Afghan border on August 14 after the Taliban took Kabul and is now in Uzbekistan.

The President Ashraf Ghani left Afghanistan on 15 August. Some media outlets said that he fled Afghanistan with his wife and two assistants to Uzbekistan.
