The city of Randolph, New Jersey (USA) hosted an event dedicated to the 31st anniversary of Uzbekistan’s state independence and the official opening of the diaspora organization Uzbek Society of America.

The event was attended by more than 300 people, including representatives of different generations of migrants from Uzbekistan, as well as local residents, Dunyo reports.

President of the Uzbek community of America Umid Ismatullayev, Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the UN, Ambassador Bakhtiyor Ibragimov, Consul General of Uzbekistan in New York Kamol Ikramov, President of the Turkestan-American Association Abdulla Khoja, head of the Uzbek community Mahalla USA Abdumalik Akhmedov, activist of the Uzbek diaspora organizations "Yurtdosh" Akmal Kholboev and others.

President of the Uzbek Society of America Umid Ismatullayev congratulated all those present on the Independence Day of Uzbekistan and the official opening of the Uzbek diaspora organization. He noted that the priority goal of the newly created organization is to unite Uzbeks living in the state of New Jersey, holding public events on the occasion of Uzbek national holidays, informing compatriots about the reforms being carried out in the country, providing advice and jointly solving problematic issues related to the stay of natives. and citizens of Uzbekistan in the United States.

“Participants and guests of the celebration gave a positive assessment of the practical steps taken in the republic to improve the welfare of the population, ensure social protection, improve the mechanisms of state and public administration, maintain interethnic harmony and religious tolerance,” the message says.

The cultural part of the event included performances by creative groups and musical groups, in particular, the performance of folk songs and dances, a demonstration of video and photographic materials about Uzbekistan, a presentation of works of applied art, national festive costumes, dishes of Uzbek cuisine and culinary. Among the young participants of the event, a quiz was organized on knowledge of the history of Uzbekistan, its geographical location, state symbols, great scientists and thinkers. The winners of the quiz were presented with memorable gifts and souvenirs.

A competition for the preparation of the Uzbek national pilaf was also held, in which the best teams of chefs from the state of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Illinois and a team of representatives of diplomatic missions of Uzbekistan in New York took part. On behalf of the Uzbek Society of America, the winners and participants of the competition were presented with special memorable gifts and souvenirs made in Uzbekistan by eminent craftsmen.
