OpenAI, that developed the ChatGPT and the DALL-E digital image creation model, has registered as a VAT payer in Uzbekistan as of today, April 9.
VAT payment procedure has been introduced as of 2020 for foreign-based companies that provide online services.
Currently, ChatGPT is available in three versions for Uzbeks: a free version, Plus for $20, and the $200 Pro version. It is not yet known how the company's official tax filing will affect prices.
To date, a total of 67 foreign suppliers of online services in Uzbekistan have registered through the "VAT office of Internet companies". Among them are Meta, Netflix, Yandex, Google, Samsung, Apple, Booking.com and others.
