In pursuit of Chinese investment for Uzbekistan nuclear plant project, the director of Uzatom Agency Azim Ahmadkhojaev traveled to China.

According to the agency's press service, Azim Ahmadkhojaev held talks with executives of Eximbank of China, and explored the prospects for drawing financial resources from China to support nuclear plant projects in Uzbekistan.

In addition, a trilateral meeting took place at the China National Nuclear Corporation’s CNOS office, the department responsible for foreign projects, with the participation of executives of Uzatom, Rosatom and Shanghai Electric.

"The main purpose of the meeting was to study the capabilities of Shanghai Electric to produce turbine equipment and assess the prospects for adapting their equipment to the Uzbek nuclear power plant projects.

The parties also reportedly discussed the matters related to the development, production and delivery of equipment for the non-nuclear island of the nuclear power plant.

Shanghai Electric is one of China's leading manufacturers of power and turbine equipment for nuclear and thermal power plants. The company has supplied non-nuclear island equipment for 39 nuclear power plants. Shanghai Electric's range includes turbogenerators with capacities ranging between 50 to 1240 MW.
