The Ministry of Agriculture sent agricultural seeds as humanitarian aid to farmers in Afghanistan. Afghanistan received the delivery of 5 tons of cotton seeds resistant to local climatic conditions for planting on 200 hectares of land, 20 tons of rice for 100 hectares, and 500 kg of mung beans for 25 hectares of fields. In addition, Afghan farmers received 600 kg of melon seeds and 187 kg of vegetable seeds.
The aid is expected to help ensure food security in Afghanistan, increase rural employment, and introduce innovations in the agricultural sector, the Ministry of Agriculture reported.
In April, a delegation from Afghanistan led by the Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock Ataullah Umar visited agricultural firms in Zangiata and Yangiyul districts of the Tashkent province and agroclusters in the Samarkand province.
In March, Uzbekistan sent a batch of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan - almost 200 tons of food – on the occasion of the Navruz and Eid al-Fitr holidays.
