Intourist Hotel, a 11-storey building in downtown Samarkand is set to be demolished, according to the local STV channel. The hotel building has been out of business for the last 11 years and was considered a dangerous structure.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev during his recent the Samarkand province trip voiced the proposal for demolition. The demolition works commenced on the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers issued about a week ago.
There is no information available yet on what will be erected in place of the hotel. According to the governor’s office, construction companies have bid to build a residential house with a garden and fountains, or a new hotel.
