Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov received Friday Iskandar Abdullayev, Executive Director of the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia (CAREC).

CAREC was established pursuant to the decision in 1998 of the 4th Pan-European Conference of Ministers of the Environment (Aarhus, Denmark).

The founders of CAREC are the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, the United Nations Development Program and the European Commission.

The sides discussed the state and prospects of cooperation between Uzbekistan and CAREC , emphasizing that the successful holding of the First Central Asian Environmental Forum in Ashgabat in June 2017 gave a new impetus to the dialogue between representatives of state and non-governmental organizations of our region on environmental issues.

The Minister invited representatives of CAREC to participate in the International Conference on Security and Sustainable Development in Central Asia under the auspices of the UN, which will be held this autumn in the city of Samarkand.
