Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov today hosted an EU delegation headed by Director-General of the European Commission for International Cooperation and Development Stefano Manservisi.

The sides reportedly discussed the state and prospects of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the EU in the political, trade-economic, investment, cultural-humanitarian and other areas, as well as the implementation of the new Partnership Strategy between the EU and Central Asia with relation to improving its effectiveness.

The sides considered the practical aspects of preparations for the upcoming 13th meeting of the Uzbekistan-EU  Cooperation Council  in Brussels, for the expected visit to Uzbekistan of the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini, the holding of the next inter-regional Central Asia - EU meeting and other joint activities.

The sides confirmed their consent to set up a new cooperation entity - a Subcommittee on Cooperation for Development, which will work to strengthen ties in the financial and technical field.

The sides also exchanged views on topical international and regional issues.

The head of the EU Delegation in Uzbekistan, Ambassador Edwards Striprais was also present in the meeting.
