President Shavkat Mirziyoyev today hosted the first deputy chairman of the Russian Government Igor Shuvalov, the Presidency website said.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated Igor Shuvalov on appointment as the Russian co-chair of the joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.
The sides reportedly discussed the issues of advancing practical bilateral cooperation and speeding up investment projects and implementing new promising programs in high-tech industries.
As Uzbekistan 24 reported, the sides also touched upon the geological exploration and development of promising deposits aimed at increasing production of hydrocarbons, construction of Kandym and Jizzakh refineries as well as modernization of the sector and supply of oil to Uzbekistan.
In the first seven months of 2017, the two-way trade between Uzbekistan and Russia increased by 14% reaching $ 2.6 billion. Since July, the "green corridor" for the supply of Uzbek fruits and vegetables to the Russian market began to operate .
"We discussed the possibilities of expanding the capacitiy of railways, so that new export corridors for fruits and vegetables could be opened. We are willing to do everything to ensure that Uzbek producers have an open road, greater opportunities, without any customs and other barriers to sell their products on the Russian market. It is in demand, it is of the highest quality," Igor Shuvalov underscored.
Igor Shuvalov confirmed Russia's readiness to develop and strengthen full-scale cooperation with Uzbekistan in the spirit of strategic partnership and alliance.
