Interior Minister of Uzbekistan, Major General Abdusalom Azizov met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to Uzbekistan Pamela Spratlen.

The sides reportedly discussed issues of strengthening cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of the two countries aimed at ensuring stability and security in Central Asia, including through Interpol, and at further development of cooperation through implementing  the  Roadmap.

Ambassador Spratlen proposed to hold joint exercises on how to deal with emergency situations, as well as strengthening cooperation between law enforcement agencies in the fight against illicit drug trafficking, human trafficking and terrorism.

The US Ambassador said that the recent terrorist attacks in Barcelona, Spain and​, in Virginia, US emphasized the need to fight against such threats together. In this regard, the sides expressed their willingness to cooperate in the exchange of information and experience, and to hold joint exercises on preventing and elimination of terrorist attacks, which can be carried out in diplomatic missions in Uzbekistan.

In the end of the meeting, the sides expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of the negotiations.
