Shavkat Mirziyoyev by the September 4 decree appointed Pulat Bobodjonov as Interior Minister of Uzbekistan, replacing Abdusalom Azizov, who had served as minister since the beginning of 2017, a source in the government said.
Pulat Bobodjonov (57 years old) since 2012 was the governor of Khorezm province, in 2011 he worked as first deputy governor and prosecutor of Bukhara province. In 2006-2011 he was the prosecutor of Jizzakh province.
In 2005-2006 he was in charge of the Department for combating tax and currency crimes within the Prosecutor General's Office, and in 2000-2005 - Deputy Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan.
Ilgizar Sabirov, former chairman (2006-2015) of Uzbek Senate became intering governor of Khorezm province.
