Delegation of the Office of UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), led by the Director of the Regional Office for Central Asia, Ryszard Komenda arrived in Uzbekistan.
The purpose of the visit is to discuss priority areas of cooperation in the field of human rights, as well as to jointly implement the measures outlined in the Action Plan adopted by the joint resolution of the Councils of both chambers of the Uzbek Parliament on June 16 on further development of cooperation with the OHCHR.
During the visit the delegation will hold meetings with officials of ministries, law enforcement bodies, national human rights and civil society institutions. In particular, it is planned to hold meetings at the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Justice, Internal Affairs, General Prosecutor's Office, Supreme Court, National Center for Human Rights and the Commissioner of the Oliy Majlis on Human Rights, Legal Training Center within the Ministry of Justice, Women's Committee of Uzbekistan. The delegation are also expected to visit the University of World Economy and Diplomacy.
