President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the President of Bulgaria Rumen Radev in New York on Wednesday. The two leaders discussed the current state and prospects for advancing of Uzbek-Bulgarian relations.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Rumen Radev pointed to the need to open a new page in Uzbekistan-Bulgaria cooperation, highlighting the mutually beneficial nature of the Uzbek-Bulgarian ties in the political, trade-economic, investment, transport-communication, cultural, humanitarian and other fields.

The sides noted that Uzbekistan and Bulgaria have a close position on regional and international issues, which serves as the foundation for furthering bilateral affairs, and discussed cooperation in the fields of transport and communications, tourism, education, culture.

The Presidents of Uzbekistan and Bulgaria jointly decided to hold a regular meeting of the intergovernmental commission to draft concrete joint projects in various fields.

Rumen Radev noted that Bulgaria appreciates reforms being undertaken under the leadership of Shavkat Mirziyoyev aimed at developing the country's economy, efforts to strengthen inter-state dialogue in Central Asia.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited the President of Bulgaria to pay a visit to Uzbekistan at a convenient time for him.
