Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov today hosted the visiting Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Religion or Belief of the UN Human Rights Council Ahmed Shaheed, the Foreign Ministry said.
The sides reportedly held substantive talks on the ties between Uzbekistan and the United Nations, focusing on the areas related to the mandate of the Special Rapporteur of the UN Human Rights Council.
Ahmed Shaheed was briefed on the international initiatives of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in the religious matters, aimed at addressing pressing contemporary problems.
The sides confirmed their interest in continuing the constructive dialogue on the basis of mutual understanding.
