Yesterday at the initiative of the Kyrgyz side President Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with the Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambaev, UzA said.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev reportedly congratulated Almazbek Atambayev and the people of Kyrgyzstan on the successful holding of the presidential elections on October 15. He noted that the election results was the evidence of the confidence and support of the population to the current reforms.
The two leaders discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation in the light of the agreements reached at the recent reciprocal visits.
Both sides expressed interest in the swift legal finalization and signing of an agreement on the remaining sections of the Uzbek-Kyrgyz state border and also in ensuring the effective functioning of the border checkpoints.
The importance of cooperation in the transport and communication field, in particular, the joint preparation for conducting the test drive along the Tashkent-Andijan-Osh-Irkeshtam-Kashgar route, scheduled for the end of October.
Almazbek Atambaev assured that the Kyrgyz side intends to further enhance the multifaceted and mutually beneficial cooperation, strengthen the bilateral friendship and strategic partnership ties.
