President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Sharof Rashidov's daughter Sayyora Rashidova opened a monument to Sharaf Rashidov in Jizzakh city today. The ceremony was held on the ocssion of the 100th anniversary of the an outstanding statesman and writer, UzA reported.
In his speech, the President noted that Sharaf Rashidov was from among ordinary people, who earned respect and authority with his intelligence, diligence and modesty. Sharof Rashidov throughout his life did good deeds, united them for the sake of great goals, Shavkat Mirziyoyev underscored.
Despite his busy schedule, Sharaf Rashidov has always remained faithful to literature. He is the author of novels and poems, as well as journalistic articles, the President added.
The ceremony was attended by academician Oqil Salimov, Ismoil Jurabekov, cosmonaut Vladimir Dzhanibekov, Kallibek Kamalov, Sayyora Rashidova and others. They shared their memories of Sharof Rashidov.
