A three-day regional training for trainers will start in Tashkent on 14 November 2017 aimed at document security during crossing the border. Taking into account the significant number of people moving within the Central Asia borders and crossing the region in transit, the EU is continuing to offer significant support to border security activities in Central Asia.
The training will be facilitated by the EU Expert Ms. Gunta Laganovska, Chief of the Examination Service of the State Border Guard of Latvia. Representatives from the State Border Guards agencies from Central Asian countries will take part in the event. The event is organized by the Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA) funded by the European Union.
The main goal of the event is to provide trainings on further use of the training curriculum on documents security and to exchange best practices. The participants will learn about EU best practices in the field of in-depth study of travelers’ documents, curriculum for advanced level and instructional and methodological materials related to document security.
The Agenda of the training includes a variety of interactive lectures, group and individual practical exercises with samples of genuine and forged documents for a more detailed perception of a study topic and strengthening practical skills in document research that is used at border crossing.
The Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA) launched its activities in 2003 to strengthen partnership between the Central Asian governments in the area of border management. The EU allocated more than EUR 40 mln to BOMCA for 2003-2018, while almost EUR 5 mln were assigned for implementation of the 9th phase of the programme for 2015-2018.
