Uzbekistan's sweltering heat will ease slightly on August 22 and 23, the country's national weather service, Uzhydromet, reported Friday.
Hot weather will persist across the country through August 21, with temperatures climbing to 36-39°C (97-102°F) and reaching 41-43°C (106-109°F) in parts of the south. Most of the country can expect mostly clear skies, though brief rain showers are possible in some districts of Karakalpakstan later in the day.
Over the weekend, nighttime temperatures nationwide are forecast to drop to 18-21°C (64-70°F), with daytime highs easing to 32-35°C (90-95°F). In the south, daytime temperatures are expected to hover between 37-40°C (99-104°F).
Most regions are not expected to see rainfall, though brief showers are possible in parts of the Fergana Valley on August 22.
Winds will blow at 7-12 meters per second (16-27 mph), strengthening to 13-18 m/s (29-40 mph) in some areas. On August 22, gusts in the south of the country could reach 22-25 m/s (49-56 mph), potentially triggering dust storms.
In Tashkent, skies will be partly cloudy with no precipitation expected. Daytime temperatures will reach 36-38°C (97-100°F) on August 21, easing to 32-35°C (90-95°F) over the weekend, with nighttime lows of 18-21°C (64-70°F).
