President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Bukhara province on Friday to familiarize himself with the progress of social and economic reforms, the President’s press service said.

During the two-day trip, the President inspected the progress of fulfillment of the instructions given during the visit to the province on March 10-11, 2017.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev familiarized himself with the projects implemented at BuhoroBaliqSanoat (transl. Bukhara Fish Industry) in Bukhara district. The project on harvesting and processing of fish is aimed at raising the supply of healthy food stuff and thus cutting the price of fish.

The enterprise intends to increase its capacity through buying of additional land plots and introduction of modern high-end technologies, includes the processes of cultivation of fry, smoking of fish, production of feed, as well as servicing of fish farms and more than 20 jobs created.

The President pointed to the existence of a large number of natural reservoirs in Bukhara, and of huge potential for further increasing the cultivation of fish in them. He instructed to provide an additional 100 billion soums for the development of the fishing industry in the Bukhara province and to train specialists.

Here were also held the presentation of other projects on breeding of livestock, poultry, silkworm, beekeeping and others, increasing the export potential through reduction of cotton fields and increasing harvesting of fruits and vegetables, and improving the condition of lands.

Afterwards Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the pre-school №54 in Bukhara city, which was overhauled in line with the presidential decree.

Kindergarten №54 is now designed for 280 children. The head of state got acquainted with the conditions created for children here, talked with the employees of the pre-school.

Information was provided on the center of short-term primary education, which was opened here on an experimental basis. Shavkat Mirziyoyev gave instructions to improve the methodology of pre-school education and to the training of qualified educators.

Then Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited  Karakul breeding farm project. He noted that Bukhara since ancient times has been a major center of Karakul culture, the inhabitants of the province have long been producing and selling products from karakul.

He noted the need to revive the disappearing traditions of the karakul breeding business, support the shepherds and artisans who work with karakul, and instructed to establish an institute and a fund for karakul breeding, a plant for processing karakul in Bukhara.

Another notable project is the production of medicinal tea from mulberry leaves. According to experts, the content of caffeine and tannin in mulberry leaves is 200 times less, and vitamins and minerals - much more than in tea leaves.

The President approved the project and noted the importance of such a tea for promoting public health and import substitution.

Forestry in the province also has great potential. The medicinal plants growing in our country are widely used in various industries. In particular, there is a high demand abroad for cystanhe and harmal. The healing properties of cystanhe are five times stronger thanthat of  ginseng.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev chaired a meeting in Peshku district attended by central and local government officials.

The head of our state, analyzing the works completed last year, has set new priority tasks for the future.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that the main purpose of his arrival in the province is to provide people with jobs. Through implementation of concrete projects, it is planned to create 90,000 jobs in the province, with also the issues of development of agriculture, entrepreneurship, financial support to SMEs, creating of jobs, and increasing revenues to the local budget were considered.
