Azim Ahmedkhadjayev, who headed the Committee for Investments since March 2017, has been appointed the Minister for IT and Communications Development (MITCD), a source in the government said.
The former chief of MITCD Sherzod Shermatov has become Deputy Minister for Innovative Development, which was created on November 29, 2017.
Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the Complex on Investment, Innovative Development, Coordination of Free Economic and Small Industrial Zones, Tourism Sukhrob Holmuradov has been named as the Chairman of Committee for Investments. He will retain his post of the Deputy PM.
Azim Ahmedkhadjayev, 38, is a graduate of the Tashkent Economic University (2002). From May 2016 to March 2017 he was the chairman of Asaka Bank. Earlier - from May 2011 - he worked as deputy chairman of the board, then first deputy chairman of the board of the NBU. Prior to that - since January 2009 - he worked as Chairman of the Board of NBU Invest Group. In previous years he worked in the Ministry of Economy and the Uzbekistan’s Fund for Reconstruction and Development.
Sherzod Shermatov, 40, is a graduate of Tashkent Technical University (1998) and Yale University, USA (2000). From November 2016 to February 2017 he served as First Deputy Minister for IT and Communications Development. Earlier - from 2014 - he was the rector of Inha University branch in Tashkent. In 2012-2014 he was deputy chairman of the Committee for Communications, Informatization and Telecommunications Technologies (now the MITCD).
