Old mosques that require reconstruction will be repaired in 2018-2019, Norma.uz said referring to the Feb 15 decision of the Cabinet of Ministers on "organization of works aimed at improvement of places of worship, pilgrimage, mosques and cemeteries."
The governor’s offices of Tashkent, provinces and the Council of Ministers of Karakalpakstan were instructed to take measures within two months to improve and repair the cemeteries with the assistance of sponsors.
In addition, special places will be organized for religious rituals - prayers before burial and commemoration of the deceased. The Committee for Religious Affairs and the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan will develop recommendations on the rules for visiting sacred places of worship, pilgrimage, mosques and cemeteries.
To fulfill these tasks, the Ministry of Finance will contribute 3 billion soums to each province.
