The President's draft Measures for Total Improvement of System for Supporting Development of Entrepreneurship and Improving Conditions For Doing Business decree, prepared by the Ministry of Justice, proposed to create an Agency for Protection of Consumer Rights, which will become a single authorized body in this area.
The Agency is expected to get the staff units and the relevant functions of government agencies with regard to issues related to consumer protection, in particular the staff of the:
- Committee for the Assitance to Privatized Enterprises and Development of Competition, responsible for inspections of the activities of economic entities for compliance with the requirements of legislation on consumer protection and advertising;
- Tax Committee, responsible for inspections of compliance with the rules of trade and provision of services;
- Agency for Press and Information, responsible for inspections of the activities of business entities operating in the field of printing.
In addition, it is planned to draft a new version of the Protection of Consumer Rights Law.
