The Interior Minister Major-General Pulat Bobojonov signed an order appointing Colonel-General Zakirjon Almatov as the advisor to the Interior Minister, the ministry said in statement.

Zakirjon Almatov, 68, headed the Ministry of Internal Affairs from 1991 to 2006, after which he retired.

The official statement of the ministry said that the post of ministerial adviser was introduced by the decree of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev which aims to create a system for enhancing the potential of young personnel and their professional skills. This position is assigned to reputed and distinguished persons, with a wealth of experience in the internal affairs bodies and life experience.

Zakirjon Almatov during his many years of service has made a great contribution to the prevention of crime, protection of public order, ensuring peace and tranquility in the country, the message said.
