Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov hosted Friday the UN Secretary General’s Special Representative, the head of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) Natalia Gherman, the ministry said.

Natalia Gherman attended, as part of the UN delegation, the Tashkent conference on Afghanistan "Peace process, security cooperation and regional connectivity" and congratulated the leadership of Uzbekistan on its successful holding .

As she noted, the unanimous adoption of the final declaration is the evidence of support to the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's proposal on the Afghan settlement aimed at the long-term perspective.

The sides reportedly exchanged views on the current aspects of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UNRCCA.

Minister Kamilov supported the UN's efforts and personally the Secretary-General on addressing transboundary water problems in Central Asia, including the draft conventions on the use of water resources in Amudarya and Syrdarya basins developed by the UNRCCA.

The sides also considered other issues on the regional agenda.
