President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has accepted the invitation of the President of the United States of America Donald Trump and will visit the United States on May 15-17 with the first official visit, the presidential press service reported.

 

According to the White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders President Shavkat Mirziyoev is scheduled to hold talks with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington on May 16.

In a press release issued on May 10, Sanders said the two presidents will renew their countries' "bilateral strategic partnership, in order to pursue shared interests and address emerging challenges."

They will also be discussing trade, investment, and regional security issues, including the situation in Afghanistan.

In Washington, Shavkat Mirziyoyev will also hold bilateral meetings in Congress, the Ministry of Defense and the State Department of the United States, as well as in the World Bank.

Within the framework of the visit, the presidents will also adopt a joint statement : "Uzbekistan and the United States of America: the beginning of a new era of strategic partnership ties" and sign a package of deals.
