President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev today held a telephone conversation with the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev once again sincerely congratulated Vladimir Putin on assuming the office of President of the Russian Federation and wished him great successes.

The counterparts noted with deep satisfaction the dynamic development and enhanced Uzbek-Russian friendship, strategic partnership and alliance ties, as well as the progress achieved in expanding mutually beneficial multifaceted cooperation.

The two leaders also discussed the topical issues related to the upcoming state visit of the President of the Russian Federation to Uzbekistan and stressed the importance of implementation of previously reached agreements in the trade, economic and investment spheres, including within the framework of the joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.

In this regard, the two leaders paid attention to the advancing of promising energy, metallurgy, machine building, electrical engineering projects with the participation of major Russian companies and banks.

An agreement was reached to continue intensive contacts between the provinces and to hold the first Interregional Forum of Uzbekistan and Russia in Tashkent this autumn.

The parties pointed to the need to further enhance tourism and cultural exchanges, the implementation of mutually beneficial education and public healthcare programs.

In the end of the conversation, the two leaders confirmed their readiness to continue close cooperation in various formats.
