Uzbekistan and UNDP agreed to implement the Assistance in Implementing the Obligations under International Human Rights Conventions and Recommendations of the United Nations Charter and Treaty Bodies in the Republic of Uzbekistan Project.

Director of the Uzbek National Center for Human Rights Akmal Saidov and UNDP Resident Representative in Uzbekistan Helena Fraser signed the document on the project implementation.

The project aims to assist the national partners in cooperation with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.

The project will also support the monitoring of the implementation of the recommendations of the UN Charter and Treaty Bodies. Measures will also be taken to develop institutional capacity to implement the norms of international human rights treaties and build the capacity of the National Center for Human Rights and the law enforcement agencies.

The National Center for Human Rights, the Ministry of Justice, the Ombudsman, the Supreme Court, the General Prosecutor's Office, the Interior Ministry, the Women's Committee and the Bar of Advocates will participate in the project.
