Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan Otabek Murodov, speaking at the 15th plenary session of the Senate on Thursday, commented on the criminal case against the former prosecutor general Rashitjon Kadirov, Gazeta.ru said.
As reported earlier, 21 people were arrested as part of the former Prosecutor-General Rashidjon Kadyrov’s case. "Our goal is not to imprison them. We must get the message across to the public. This is the policy of the President Mirziyoyev. Four of the detained have returned the money, and therefore we have released them from custody on bail. Those people worked in high posts," said the Prosecutor General.
"The time will come, once the investigation is over, the public will get to know the committed crimes, we will fully disclose the details of the case: how much money was stolen, what they did, what bribes were taken - the sums are astonishingly huge," Otabek Murodov said.
Rashitjon Kadirov was in charge of the Prosecutor General's Office in 2000-2015, and afterwards he was elected as judge of the Constitutional Court (2015-2017).
In February, the Prosecutor General's Office launched a criminal case against Rashitjon Kadirov under articles 165 (Extortion), 205 (Abuse of Power) and 210 (Taking bribe) of the Criminal Code.
