Merritz, an international law firm with offices in London and Dubai, announces its expansion plans to cover the CIS market with an office based in Tashkent starting its operations as soon as July 2018, the company said in a statement.

“The recent promising developments in Uzbekistan lead to the need for world-class legal support, especially with international investments that require law firms with experience in cross-jurisdictional work and large scale projects. This is at the core of the expertise of Merritz and thus we decided to set up office in Tashkent,” said Diana Bayzakova, Partner at Merritz law firm.

The new reforms initiated by the government of Uzbekistan have the potential to reshape this nation’s economy. Naturally such evolution leads to the increased complexity of business dealings and expansion of the legal requirements and the law firms that have the experience of operating in such an environment.

The team at Merritz will comprise a mix of its international talents to bring in global experience along with Uzbek experts to bring the local insights and contribute to grooming local talents. They will be setting up a local branch of its operations with focus on 5 major verticals, each of which will have dedicated specialists:
