Uzbekistan Railways is negotiating with South Korean Hyundai and Spanish Talgo to buy high-speed trains, the Tourism development committee said in a statement.
"In order to provide quality services for tourists on railway transport, Uzbekistan Railways is currently holding negotiations with the Spanish TALGO and the Korean HYUNDAI for the purchase of new trains," the statement said.
Repairs and modernization of 5 cars with a total capacity of 240 seats are currently under way at the Tashkent Plant for Construction and Repair of Rail Cars.
In addition, it is planned to modernize the system of online ticketing service with the possibility of booking tickets by travel agencies.
