UzbekTelecom’s internet access monopoly could become a thing of the past in 2020, with the direct access available to all operators. This move is contained in the road map of the Uzbekistan’s Innovative Development Strategy for 2019-2021 signed by the President Mirziyoyev.

Currently, the state-run telecommunications operator UzbekTelecom provides the Internet access for all providers through its packet switching center.

The relevant regulation should be adopted by January 1, 2020 with the involvement of private investors and entrepreneurs.

It is expected that this will cut the Internet price for end users.

In addition, , it is planned to expand the with broadband Internet coverage by February 1, 2020, including through the development of mobile networks operating by LTE and WIMAX standards.
