Early in the morning on Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Uzbekistan on a state visit. At the airport in Tashkent, he was met by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the presidential press service said.

The two leaders will launch the construction of a nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan and oversee the signing of 20 bilateral accords, with major investment and trade deals between firms and enterprises of the two countries expected to be inked.

On the eve of the visit, the first joint Education Forum and the Uzbekistan-Russia Forum of Interregional Cooperation opened in Tashkent.
