Uzbek Foreign Minister, Abdulaziz Kamilov, today hosted the visiting Qatar delegation, led by State Minister of Foreign Affairs Soltan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, the ministry said.

The counterparts reportedly discussed the state and prospects of bilateral relations and confirmed mutual interest in enhancing the Uzbek-Qatari dialogue, primarily in the trade, economic and investment spheres.

In spite of the fact that trade turnover is growing dynamically, as noted, there is still huge untapped potential, noted the ministers. In this context, the parties stressed that the created joint intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation, the first meeting of which is to be held in early 2019, has a key role to play.

The ministers also exchanged views on topical regional and international problems and the ways for the peaceful settlement of the situation in Afghanistan.

On the same day, the second round of the Uzbek-Qatari political consultations was held.
