Fayzullo Gadoyev, former chief of the Interior Ministry Drug Enforcement Office of Tajikistan, has been sentenced in absentia to 28 years of imprisonment for involvement in large-scale drug trafficking Tajikistan’s Supreme Court, Asia-Plus said.

He was found guilty of drug trafficking, money laundering, abuse of power and bribe taking.

The Supreme Court deprived Gadoyev of all state honors and awards. He was also stripped of Lieutenant-General rank.

Fayzullo Gadoyev was born in Sariasiya district of Surkhandarya province, Uzbekistan. He was arrested in an operation by Uzbek police.
