The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev today held a telephone conversation.

The two leaders reportedly noted with satisfaction the current upward trend of relations of friendship, good neighborhood and strategic partnership between the two fraternal countries and emphasized that the intensification of ties at all levels and in all areas contributes to the further deepening of the Uzbek-Kazakh multifaceted cooperation.

The volume of the two-way trade and the cooperation in various sectors, including between regions and businesses are on the rise. The leaders commended, the first Forum of interregional cooperation was successfully held in Shymkent on November 15.

A rich program of business, cultural and humanitarian exchanges was underscored within the framework of the Year of Uzbekistan in Kazakhstan: in total, more than 50 joint events have been held year-to-date.

The heads of state also exchanged views on topical regional and international issues, including preparations for the second Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia in 2019 in Uzbekistan.

In conclusion, the two leaders confirmed their firm intention and mutual desire to further actively advance the full-scale cooperation, strengthen the bonds of centuries-old friendship and good neighborliness, bilateral strategic partnership relations for the benefit of the fraternal peoples of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, in the interests of ensuring stability and sustainable development of the entire region.
