30 day visa-free regime will be introduced for German citizens visiting Uzbekistan for tourism purposes as of January 15, 2019,, the Tourism Committee said.

In 2016 the number of tourists from Germany hit 4,889, in 2017 – 7,207, and in 2018 – 18,094 (an increase by 2.5 times).

Germany ranked 10th among countries whose citizens last year used the e-visa system for Uzbekistan (e-visa.gov.uz). From July 15, when the system was launched, until December 28, 1089 citizens of the Federal Republic of Germany were issued e-visas.

It is noteworthy that the visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Germany is scheduled for January.

The decision to introduce a visa-free regime is aimed at "strengthening cultural, scientific, educational exchange between the two countries, improving the investment climate and increasing the tourists inflow."
