The deputy governor of Andijan province Salombek Khabibullaev responsible for investments, innovation, assistance to privatized enterprises, development of small industrial zones and promoting tourism, died yesterday of myocardial infarction aged 48, the Ministry of Health said.

Salombek Khabibullaev, 48, graduated from Tashkent State University in 1992. He worked in various positions in the system of the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade in the period between 1994–2012, headed the Uzbekistan-Japan Center (UJC), first concurrently (2001–2012), and then on a permanent basis (2012–2018). He had served as deputy governor of Andijan province since January 26, 2018.

Earlier in October 2017, after seven months of service, the 57-year-old mayor of the Ulugnor District of the Andijan province, Asilbek Yusupov, died from hemorrhagic stroke.
