The secrecy regimen will be removed from the gold production and sales figures in Uzbekistan, according to the Jan. 17 decree by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Measures to fulfill the decree must be taken within a month.
The decree also instructed to optimize the staffing level of security-special departments of large mining and metallurgical companies.
Earlier, the Ministry of Finance in the draft government resolution proposed to lift the ban on publication of certain information.
Among them, information about:
- total mineral reserves, the volume of production and sales, as well as the distribution of funds;
- financial reports based on national or international standards of the Uzbekistan Fund for Reconstruction and Development, Almalyk and Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Complexes as of 2013;
- foreign exchange reserves and their structure until January 1, 2017;
- total volume of government’s and government-guaranteed debts (internal and external), their sources, interest rates, terms of repayment, drawing and return for organizations with debt obligations.
