The agreement on mutual recognition of education and qualifications, degrees was signed by the governments of Uzbekistan and Russia at the meeting of the joint commission on May 30 in Urgench.

The document was approved by the head of the Uzbek Authority for Supervision of Quality of Education under the Cabinet of Ministers Ulugbek Tashkenbayev and the Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia Grigory Trubnikov.

The agreement is aimed at developing bilateral cooperation in the field of education and science, ensuring mutual recognition of education and qualifications, degrees obtained in Uzbekistan and Russia, as well as enhancing interaction between educational and scientific organizations of the two countries.

The document will allow graduates of universities in Russia and Uzbekistan to continue their studies and work by profession in any of the two states, which fact is expected to contribute to the development of academic mobility between countries, attracting foreign students and highly qualified personnel.

Speaking at the meeting, the Russian Prime Minister, Dmitry Medvedev, recalled that before the beginning of the 2019/20 school year, it is planned to open the branches of the Moscow Power Engineering Institute, the Mendeleev Russian Chemical Technology University and the Astrakhan State Technical University in Uzbekistan.
