Since the duty for luxury cars and electric cars were cut as of January 1, 2019, the Uzbeks reportedly imported about 600 luxury cars worth over US$ 400 million and 20 electric cars.
In Uzbekistan it is planned to introduce recycling tax from any types of vehicles in a proposed draft bill, which is currently being reviewed by the lower house. The recycling fee will be paid by manufacturers, as well as companies and individuals who import vehicles.
