The Uzbekistan-Turkey Extradition Treaty of April 2018 took effect today on August 20, 2019. The treaty aims at expanding cooperation in the criminal law and ensuring more effective interaction between the two countries in the fight against crime, the Uzbekistan Foreign Ministry said.

The document provides for the procedure and the terms for extradition of persons, the grounds for refusing to extradite, and the necessary supporting documents to be transmitted to the requested party.

As per the treaty, each party undertakes to extradite to the requesting party the persons wanted for crime or the execution of a sentence for a crime stipulating extradition.
