The mission of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for the Integrated Nuclear Infrastructure Review (INIR) in Uzbekistan has been postponed until the first half of 2021, Uzatom agency said.
In February, the Uzbek Energy Minister Alisher Sultanov announced that the INIR mission was scheduled for October. Later, the Foreign Ministry clarified that the mission was postponed to December.
on November 9-12 is being held the preliminary INIR mission online with more than 40 specialists from over 20 ministries and departments attending.
"At the meeting, held in the spirit of exchange of views, Uzbekistan expressed its readiness to comply with all the recommendations and requirements of the IAEA on nuclear safety," said Uzatom.
Earlier, IAEA Deputy Director General Mikhail Chudakov said that the agency would send an INIR mission in 2020. According to Uzatom, with the assistance of the IAEA, a program has been developed for the country to build the capacity of the human resources and create nuclear infrastructure within the framework of the construction of nuclear power plants for 2020-2021.
