The president signed a decree on November 16 appointing Alisher Maksudov as the chairman of the State Committee for Environmental Protection, the Committee said.
Earlier, his candidacy for this role was approved by the deputies of the Legislative Chamber.
Alisher Maksudov, 46, graduated from the Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry in 1996 and the Tashkent State Economic University in 2003. In 2014-2015 he served as Deputy Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade, in 2015-2017 - First Deputy Chairman of the Uzpakhtasanoatexport holding. Prior to this appointment, he had been charge of Uzpakhtasanoat company.
The former chief of the State Committee for Ecology, Shavkatjon Abdurazakov, having worked in this position for less than six months, was approved in September as the acting governor of Namangan province.
