On December 14, as part of the visit of the government delegation to Japan in Tokyo, the Deputy PM/Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade met with the Chairman of Japan-CIS Business Cooperation Committee of the Japan Business Federation (Keidanren) and the Chairman of Marubeni Corporation Fumiya Kokubu, President and CEO of Itochu Corporation Yoshihisa Suzuki, and President and CEO of Mitsubishi Corporation Takehiko Kakiyuchi.
During the meeting with Fumiya Kokubu, the parties discussed the ways of strengthening partnership between the businesses of Uzbekistan and Japan by taking joint measures to facilitating the successful activities of Japanese businesses in Uzbekistan, with a view to the implementation of investment projects in promising industries. As one of such measures, the parties discussed the possibility of organizing, under the auspices of the Japanese Business Federation Keidanren, a visit of the CEOs of large Japanese companies and corporations to Uzbekistan to substantively discuss the prospects for business partnership and agree on specific projects and initiatives.
In addition, they reviewed practical issues related to projects implemented jointly with Marubeni in Uzbekistan in the fields of energy, geology and chemical industry and discussed the possibilities for expanding the company's presence in the market through the development of new projects in the chemical and textile industries.
During negotiations with CEO of Mitsubishi, the significant role of the corporation in the implementation of large-scale projects in Uzbekistan in the energy and infrastructure development sectors was underscored, the important advantage of which was the introduction of advanced Japanese energy-saving technologies and high economic efficiency.
The agenda of negotiations with the CEO of Itochu included an analysis of the implementation of joint projects, in particular the launch of production of buses and other vehicles at SamAuto enterprise, as well as the localization of components for Di-Max cars.
Following the negotiations with representatives of Japanese business, further steps were outlined to step up the implementation of ongoing initiatives, as well as to develop and further promote new promising projects aimed at introducing innovations and advanced scientific and technical developments.
