Social card will be implemented in Uzbekistan from October 1 to finance all social assistance to the public. The president Shavkat Mirziyoyev stated this at a meeting on Tuesday, according to his press secretary Sherzod Asadov.
Firstly, benefits within the Kindness and Support, the Women’s and Youth lists will be added to the new system, and then gradually will the remaining 74 types of social benefits and assistance.
With the help of a social card, one will be able to use benefits in the field of transport, housing and utilities .
The press service of the Social Protection Agency added that the card would also serve as an ID.
The head of state also underscored that through the digitalization of social services, assistance had been provided to 2,000 lonely people who need the care of others.
For example, a single disabled woman living in Navoi was looked after by her 12-year-old child and who did not attend school. A social worker was assigned to her, thanks to which the child went to school, and the family’s social status improved.
The social protection system covers 250 services, but public is not aware about more than half of them, said Shavkat Mirziyoyev. For example, 33 thousand parents who can receive benefits for caring for a disabled child do not use it.
To provide comprehensive support to the population in need of social protection, the president instructed to simplify and speed up the processes of providing services:
- develop criteria for determining the categories of those in need and what kind of assistance is needed;
- individual social services program will be developed for each individual in need.
