Two physicians of the Tashkent's 1st City Clinical Hospital were beaten by a patient and his friends, the press service of the Ministry of Health said today.
At about 7:20 a.m. on July 27, two men - P. I. and S. B. - brought a friend B. I., 27, to the hospital in serious condition and with multiple wounds.
The on-duty traumatologist A. A. during a medical examination found cut wounds in the areas of both elbows, chest and abdomen, and also diagnosed hemorrhagic shock of the 2-3rd degree.
The patient was given emergency assistance to stop the bleeding and against shock, after which he was hospitalized in the emergency trauma department.
At 7:40 a.m. he was placed in the microsurgery room for emergency surgical care.
During preparation for the operation, the patient put up strong resistance to the microsurgeon M.Kh., hit him and insulted him. The doctor failed to calm the man down, who got off the operating table and started beating him. The doctor called 102 and reported the situation.
Reportedly, the doctor was then beaten by the patient's friends. The doctor's colleague, Kh.U., who was on duty in the emergency surgery department, came to his aid. Two men beat this doctor as well, causing him serious bodily harm.
The doctor lost consciousness and fell into a coma, he was hospitalized in the intensive care unit. He was diagnosed with a closed craniocerebral injury, spinal injuries, and facial injuries.
The press service of the Prosecutor General's Office added the attackers were arrested and are now facing Hooliganism charge, with investigation underway.
