President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko adopted the Joint Statement following the bilateral talks in Minsk and oversaw the signing of 11 accords between the governments, ministries and companies of the two countries, the Uzbek presidential press service reported.
According to a source in the government, intergovernmental agreements have been signed on industrial and scientific-technical cooperation, on interprovincial cooperation, on mutual encouragement and protection of investments, and on mutual recognition of educational documents and training.
The Ministries of Defense signed an agreement on mutual transfer of classified information.
The Chambers of Commerce and Industry adopted an agreement on the establishment of a Business Council.
In addition, documents were signed on cooperation in the field of environmental protection, the media, in the field of information and communication technologies and others.
“Our negotiations were held in a practical, constructive spirit and reaffirmed that Belarus and Uzbekistan are strategic partners,” said Alexander Lukashenko at a briefing.
It was noted that, more than ten agreements were signed between the cities and provinces of the two countries at the Provinces Forum held in Minsk on the eve of the visit, as well as contracts and agreements worth almost US$ 300 million.
